We had a long day travelling yesterday and have booked to go abseiling tomorrow so we wanted a bit of a chill day today.
We headed into the centre of Dalat and found a little cafe to have a drink in. The plan was to have a few coffees/tea and do some research for the next part of our trip. However the tea was awful and the coffee even worse so we headed back. Mark ordered a white coffee but the milk never arrived, when we asked for milk we received some gloopy white liquid that did not do the job milk normally does.
We had a wander round the local market and bought some fruit. I got some strawberries and again it made me realise how lucky we are at home. They had 2 types of strawberries for sale; a good box and a bad box. The good box wouldn't have even made it to the shelves of Tesco.
The owner of the hostel recommended that a few of us went to a real local restaurant for tea. She warned us that they didn't speak English so we should order with her and she'd write the order down. Although we didn't know what we'd fancy once we got there so took the risk of ordering once we got there.
There were 7 of us altogether so we ordered 2 sharing platters which fed 4 people each. These platters were tiny. We ended up ordering enough food for 12 Vietnamese people and still left a little hungry. We should have listened to the hotel owner. The food was delicious though, spicy chicken wings and a BBQ beef rice wrap.
