Our last day in Chiang Mai today. We've really enjoyed this city. So chilled and calm but with plenty going on.
We started the day by going to Doi Suthep, a village on a nearby hill with a temple at the top. The views were spectacular! You could see the whole of Chiang Mai. As for the temple, it was a climb up 300 steps which was great exercise to help burn off our McDonalds and pizza from the day before. The temples are beginning to look very samey though which isn't surprising as back home all churches look the same.
We had a little wander around the city, that is more the size of a town that afternoon doing a few errands and grabbing lunch before a rest by the hotel pool.
That night we headed to the night bazaar which I read was not to be missed. It was a huge market with lots of stalls selling the usual stuff you can find at markets abroad... 'Rayban' sunglasses, clothing, purses, bracelets. Not as impressive as the reviews made out but it was alright. The atmosphere was great with what seemed like the whole town turning out.
We bought a nice little silk purse, more jazzy pants, postcards and some 'raybans' for £4, haggled from £8:50!! Every penny counts.
