We were up disgustingly early today. Disgustingly. To go for a 6 hour walk. What was I thinking?!
Arriving at the start of the walk at 7am, we began our day more than a little begrudgingly, wondering who tricked us into thinking this would be a good idea.
Even worse, within the first hour of walking, my famous DofE injuries had made themselves known once again. This meant the option to add on another 2 hours to climb Mount Doom was completely out of the window. I was obviously gutted.
Although we started out as a group, eventually walking speeds split us up and I spent my entire day walking with Charlotte as we battled the mental drain of the walk. To be fair, the views were absolutely incredible. And now that the aches and pains are fading, it's slowly beginning to feel worth it.
The last hour was by far the worst - endless windy lanes that never seemed to take us to the car park! But once we finally got there, we crashed out and waited to be carried back to the hostel, feeling more than a little victorious.
However, there was a moment when I thought I would kill Ryan, as although we didn't climb Mount Doom and he did, he only got back to the car park 25 minutes after we did. And he was hungover. Bloody show off.
When we arrived back we, of course, got some $5 dominos and then me and the girls went out and bought some ice cream which we ate in our room in quiet celebration, before heading straight to bed.
The other interesting part of today was how I've been slowly losing my voice every hour - so tomorrow should be great!
