I have no voice. Like absolutely nothing. No sound whatsoever.
I woke up earlier to go to the pharmacy for my throat only to find when I got there that I couldn't explain what was wrong. So after an entertaining game of charades I left with a big bag of medicine, hoping I would get my voice back soon.
After a quick stop for lunch in Turangi, our driver Mangee made the executive decision to not make us do a 'short' hour walk after the Tongariro Crossing the day before. A brilliant decision if I do say so myself.
Instead we had a much more chilled day, sightseeing mainly from inside the bus and only stopping for supplies. Which suited me well considering I could contribute absolutely nothing to any conversations during the day.
This also meant when we were told we would have no service at all in River Valley, David and I had to make all of our calls to change buses and book extra accommodation whilst on the bus. And by David and me, I mean David because obviously I couldn't help much.
When we arrived in River Valley we got to pick between a room of 24 and a room of 6, so considering I was ill I decided to pick the room of 6!
The rest of the evening was very chilled out, just sitting drinking by the lake and me listening to everyone else's conversations. The lack of wifi and service meant the evening was a great bonding time for all of us. We sat in the lodge playing cards and giant jenga and it was then that I realised just how close we all are, and how much it's going to suck losing everyone!
About half 10, I decided to go to bed to help my voice because it was starting to irritate me that I couldn't join in most of the games. I'm hoping I'll get it back in time to go out in Wellington tomorrow night!
