We got up ready to pick up the new Kiwi Experience bus with loads new people on it at 8.45am. Our driver was Cam. Gina and I were both feeling rough from last night. Tired more than anything. We stopped off at a bakery to get some breakfast. Then we headed to a place in Rotorua where they do the Zorbing. You are pushed off a hill inside a large beach ball. Half the bus did this but Gina and I didn't think it was a good idea to be rolled down the hill with the way we were feeling so we watched the other people doing it instead. After people had finished Zorbing we went to Agroventures down the road. Here people got the opportunity to try out the Swoop, Agrojet, Freefall Xtreme or the Shweeb. All the activities that Kiwi Experience take us to are not free and Gina and I won't have the money to do all of them especially as we are spending a month in New Zealand. The cost would soon add up. We sat and watched other people do their activities. When we left Agroventures we stopped briefly for lunch and then headed straight on to Waitomo. There is not enough room in the hostel for everyone so the Kiwi Experience has got the same rate in a nearby hotel as the hostel. Gina and I got put in the Waitomo Caves Hotel and each have our own room. We are just staying here for 1 night. In the afternoon everyone got picked up at different times for different activities. Gina did the Black Water Rafting in Ruakuri Caves. It was called The Black Labyrinth and it was a 3 hour trip involving a combination of walking, floating on an inner tube along the river canyon, jumping off a waterfall and gliding through caverns lit up by thousands of glowworms. I did a 2 hour walk in the Ruakuri Cave. It is a engineering jewel and we entered the cave and walked through the amazing spiral entrance before going through breathtaking caverns, narrow corridors, crystal tapestries and the tune of distant subterranean waterfalls. We got to see thousands of glowworms in the cave. We both got 50% off our chosen activity with our Explore New Zealand cards. Mine usually costs $60.00 so getting 50% off was really good. I got back around 6pm but Gina didn't get back until 7.30pm. The Kiwi Experience organised a BBQ at a local bar in the evening but it was really expensive so Gina and I did our own thing and got an early night.
