Hi to all.
I have had a great 4 sunny hot days in London, how lucky am I ?
Changing today I think but I pick up a hire car today and set off for the east then south then north while catching up with an old friend and relatives of the kids.
London on the whole wasn't as expensive as I expected except for the Tube which costs lots.
There were sales everywhere yesterday on Oxford St and some very cheap clothing there. Harrods was not cheap tho even with sales!
I realize most of you have been recent visitors to these shores but I must say it is great here, I love it. There are thousands of tourists but it all works and the Poms are friendly and helpful - esp at the Tube.
I've managed quite a few sights- Kew Gardens, Greenwich, Westminister and St Pauls Cathedrals and many other churches, Tower of London, Museum, Art Gallery, changing of the Guards, walked thru all the city parks, walked the North side of the river from the Tower to Big Ben. I didn't go on the Eye, to scary for me.
I am back for up to 5 days later in my travels so will see more then and maybe just sit around in a park!
At the weekend there were concerts and events everywhere with road closures etc. Lots happening.
Some Tube stations are shut being renovated and areas closed getting ready for the Olympics.
My accommodation is like being back in the nurses home when I trained- long corridors and central facilities, at least I wasn't locked out last night when I got back late from going to see Mamma Mia! It was a great show.
Ok , keep well.
