Hi to all,
Well we have finished day 9 of 13 on this walk from the Irish Sea to ? - the other side!!!
After the fabulous weather and company of the other walk this one has been a disaster. The group is not fast or fit. 2 members get the bus most days, the speed is so slow, and we gave big miles to cover.
The weather has been appalling, think today is the first day I have not had my jacket on, plus often my rain pants, beanie, gloves, buff and 3 prs of socks.
One day we crossed a Col in 100 kmh winds that were pushing us over- pouring with rain too!!
Another day we were in mid-calf mud or water thru peat bogs on top of hills.
It's been freezing cold.
The oldest group member was struggling one day, I walked with him , mentally practicing my CPR, he seemed to improve the next 2 days, then yesterday he DIED in the night!!!
Very traumatic as I was called as his room mate 'was having trouble waking him up' so I thought he was going to be drowsy or semi- conscious - but he was long gone!!
I stayed with him until the ambulance came after telling them that no CPR was going to help.
The poor love is an Aussie so the legalities will be horrific for his wife.
So we've had a somber group for 2 days now.
Tuesday.
Another sunny day!
27 kms again, along more roads than usual which increases the speed, but causes feet pain.
I am tired and have sore knees and feet.
3 more days.
My boots are about to give up, they are leaking, so will go in the bin at the end.
Some of you won't know about last weeks exciting news.
Michael - my son - married Zareena at last on Noosa North Shore Beach.
The photos look great.
Ok keep well everyone.
Carol.
