Hi folks, back again after a 28
Km day - hope so anyway.
Didn't start off to hot so was great.
Endless walking along farm tracks really thru wheat fields( only 30 cm high so could see over it , would be a pain when ripe) where the soil was good and olive trees where it was rocky. We went thru several villages high on hills, one with a Fortress on top of a peak, conquered by Charlemonge ( again) 100's of years ago. Went past a church from 1026!!! Yes shut!!!
But, oh joy, tonight in a little town of Los Arcos there is a church bigger and more impressive than anything in Aussie!! Will look up how old the pile is . We are in a big hotel but after whinging about having to be on a top bunk or a 30 bed room the man put us in a little side room ! Great.
We have since met a guy M met at the start waiting for me.He's from Sydney.
The last 2 days we started at 7.30am.
2days later.End of day 7.
I am over it! After 6 days of trotting along with basically happy feet I today got the blister from h---and can barely walk. Plus my back is aching from what has turned out to be an inadequate pack ! So the miseries today1 I want to get on a bus and head fir 2 weeks on a beach in Portugal !
M isn't impressed either, hates all the paved paths.Boring as can be too the last few days with endless grape vines or wheat , tho there was some excitement yesterday when we got caught in a lightning thunder and hail storm ! I had sent my rain gear ( first time )on in the bag I am forwarding daily to lighten my pack, so only had a $2 plastic poncho which did quite well. Luckily the lightning didn't zap us or the trekking poles.
Shoes and socks and packs drowned and then we were in a poxy hostel. We left our bags and tried to find a hotel with no success so back we went. Wasn't that bad in the end tho people got up at 5.30am!So we were on the road at 6.40am, quite good actually as cooler than later.
So don 't be surprised if I chuck it in.
It is NOT fun believe me !
Ok on wifi, sending this before I lose it like 2 others that have gone,

Brisbane Barb Go Carol - don't forget to have a Spanish icecream for me - when the going gets tough - stop, put your feet up and think of all us poor workers fighting our way through the traffic each day! Cheers - Barb
