Woke up early in legazpi, jumped in a tricycle, picked up a mango and a new pair of thongs and then straight to the airport bound for tagbilaran (Bohol) via Manila (again..). From the airport hopped again In tricycle to dao bus terminal then in a jeepney to loboc... Then from there it was on the back of a motorcycle to nut huts down this crazy little rocky path deep into this valley... Funny thing was I had no small change So my payment ended up being 3 cigs which he seemed more than happy about. Anyway I read about nut huts both in lonely planet and on trip advisor and it sounded right up my alley.. So here I wAs on the bottom shelf of the gorgeous valley right next to the river. The place here is all stairs... From down at the river, where your accom is up to the cafeteria is a bunch of steps.. Then up to the main road is 800m up again.. Lots of exercise! But it's sweet here! Hippy, bohemian style with little shacks by the river for accom with creAky rooms, thin mattresses and I mosquito net.. The cafeteria is a giant deck with a panoramic view of the valley and river below, decks out with cushions, hammocks And all things needed to relax. Food here is great! Vegetarian delights, fresh warm bread rolls and muesli and yogurt for breakfast! No sounds of cars, far from noisy karaoke bars- only the sounds of geckos, bugs, birds ... The sounds of nature!! What more does a long term traveller want!!
That afternoon I chilled out with some like minded solo travelers sharing stories over a few beers..
The next morning up early to go on the cAve wAlk. The crew was J (british dude) and Rohan (nz guy).. So off we went across the river then trekking up the other side of the valley.. Then into the caves for 800m, climbing up And down small crevices.. Watching the bAs flying round plus spiders crawling everywhere! From there J and i walked further to the zip line and zoomed 300m above and across the valley N back again! Heaps of fun!
Back as a group we walked back down to the river N jumped in the water and swam 600m upstream to the waterfalls and cooled our sweaty body's! After 4 hrs we had worked up a ginormous appetite And ate a delicious lunch of spicy beans, and a hot bread roll with a fresh papaya shake! At lunch we met a new comer to nut huts and Another solo traveller Angelo (italian) who joined us on our motorbike adventure up to the fAmous chocolate hills in the afternoon! It took a good 40min to ride there and we sat up there with music and speakers (thAnks to Rohan) and a beer watching the sunset over the gorgeous views!! FANTASTIC!!!
Back to nut huts we came quite late and organized the next 4 days together... We decided to head to panglao (south island connected to Bohol)tomorrow morning for some beach time... Then ferry over to siqujor for a few days before we go our own ways.. But we all get along really well and why not make the most of great company!!
Wish i had more time in Bohol.. There is so much to do! But as I found out yesterday that my flight to gold coast is leaving from KL on the 2nd of may!!! Which is 3 days earlier than i previously thought!! Eek!! So have zero time left now and have to move fast! 11 days left!!! Argh!!!
