So Arrived to coron by a little chugga a chug boat which took 8 hours to conquer the rough seas between el nido and coron. The journey was long but pleasant as the rough seas didn't phase me.
The other choice of transport is the cargo ferry which is half the price and double the adventure!! Martin and Julia were taking in and asked me to join.. So I went to buy my ticket and they were sold-out of bunks and only had 'animal' class tickets left.. I decided to leave it and got bullied by the crew for being an unadventurous wuss! Haha! Anyway I'm glad I didn't go as the boat left at 4am instead of 8pm... Took 12 hrs... And 'animal' class was literally a wooden plant amongst the buffalo! Ha! Martin and Julia took pics for me to see ! Good decision I thought!
Anyway I arrive wrecked to el nido and im thinking it's going to be a quiet dinner and straight to bed... However just as I get off the boat tom and Karina (a couple I've been bumping into all over Malaysia) are sitting on the balcony having a beer! So an early night soon turns into a few beers... Then dinner... Then off to the bar where I met up with anders a Swedish pilot I met at scuba junkie and caught a few flights with!! After a few hrs of san mig lights, fooseball competitions and plenty of free pop corn... It was bed time!
The next day it was a day of diving with sea dive to penetrate and discover the Japanese wrecks Coron is so famous for! 3 dives 40m, 35, 27m... Amazing! Got to go completely inside and explore the cabins and see the guns and cargo! Best wrecks!
The next day we were out again to the wrecks and finished the day diving in the famous barracuda lake. It's a fresh water lake surrounded by limestone pinnacles and turquoise water. Diving without wetsuit we jump in and descend down.. At about 15m the 50m vis stops and the hazy mix of 38 degree water surprises you! Insane! So hot! Great dive!
That night snir an israeli I met in el nido was feeling a bit iffy and long story short spent a night in the hospital with suspected subcutaneous emphysema due to diving with bronchitis!!!! Hmmm.
Anyway it was great to catch up with shweta and ryan.. Play some pool with the gang and have birthday drinks everyone!
The next day I flew to Manila (20hrs after my last dive).. Mid flight I felt bubbles on the tops of my feet.. As we
Started to descent I felt the bubbles
Moving up my legs and soon my right arm was Swollen and I felt dizzy.. Its a pretty long and scary story so I'm cutting it very short... But as soon as i got off the plane I was on 100% O2... And making phone calls to DAN back in aus organizing my trip to the decompression chamber!! After around 50 mins I was carried to a taxi.. Without the address to a military hospital and by this time I thought i would make it. I had intense head pain.. Slurring my words... My neck muscle couldn't support my head! So i called mum for the first time and listened to her reassurance as I prayed the traffic wasn't that bad. 40 min later I arrived at the chamber with dr Bernardo waiting for Me... After a few quick tests it was obvious I was bent and was put
In the chamber for 5 hrs... I have never been this worried about anything before. I serious thought i wouldn't make it! And I have so learnt my lesson!! No flying within 24 hrs of your last dive!!!!!!!!!
The next morning dad, debs and kerry met me at my hotel for breaky and headed to see the doc Again for a check up. With the ok and a warning to take it easy and plus a ban from
Diving for 6 weeks we were off to batangas to catch the boat to puerto galera where ill spend the week with them!
I'm ok though! Thanks for everyones
Love!
