Yesterday I Had a big journey starting at 4:15am wake up, a yummy big fruit salad made by mi-Lin then a lift on the bike down to muelle ferry for the sun rise boat bake to batangas.. From there it was local bus to Manila then quick taxi to the airport headed for legazpi! Pretty proud of my travels that day.. Paid only 400peso for the entire journey, when a van just from batangas to Manila is 2000peso!! Yeow!
Once i arrived in legazpi it was all stations go to get to donsol, the place of the butanding (whalesharks!). I sported some whities from a mile away and found they to were also headed straight to donsol so we caught a van together (400p per person). It's was a really nice 1hr drive through the villages and rice fields spotting random Animals all over the place and kids with big smiles trying to get ur attention!
Once in donsol Lena and Alex and I (the German couple I was travelling with) dropped our bags off at casa bianca (on the beach 800p per night which is the cheapest u will find anywhere)... And headed to the info centre to book our butanding interaction experience for the next morning. Dinner ended up being at 4:30pm as we all skipped lunch and had a few beers,
Struggling to keep our eyes open to make it a Decent hour to head bed! Ha.
Woke up fresh this morning ready to see the whale sharks.. After a delicious breakfast at amor (eggplant and garlic omelet) we met up with the test of our boat Angela (brissy girl) and pascal (French Swiss) and headed out to see around 10:45am! Within 10min of being on the boat we were ordered to put our fins and masks on a jump in... 5 seconds later we were inches from the enormous mouth of a 7m whale shark!!! Crazy crazy... Had to swim out of it's way to avoid running into it!! This happened another 8 times in similar fashion except the 4 shark we were swimming with for 10 minutes and it was huge.. Like 10m long or something! Or group was wicked.. All great swimmers and we were all able to keep up with the whale sharks the whole time!!! Wow! 1000% recommend this! So beautiful. Alex brought his underwater camera and got some cool footage (some with me diving with it). So keep a look out for them.
After that fantastic morning it was lunch and beers with our boat crew and then getting the hell out of donsol as there is absolutely nothing to do.. Not even a beach... Next stop further south to sorsogon...
