March ....
We got the afternoon boat to Phi Phi one of the ideallic islands in the world from Krabi town arriving there early evening. The boat there was absoluterly jam packed which made us think about whether we would get accomodation on the island or not, but we did eventually, reallly expensive though, nearly 7 pounds each a night! Also it was right op[posite a bar so sleeping was difficult especially when we wanted an early one the first night we were there. The next day we checked out one of the beaches on Phi Phi Don island which was really awesome. Me a & Ryan buried ourselves in the sand (Pierre has the pics - i'll try and get them off him!). That night we checked out the night life, its fairly sma;ll but one of the pubs has a boxing ring in it, which peopel can get in and fight their mates - i didnt but people do, and its hilarious & all the spectators want to see blood! That day we booked an overnight trip to Phi Phi Ley - which is where 'the beach' was filmed.
Phi Phi Ley is a national park, people aren't allowed to stay the night, although the park ranger has given the permission to 1 person, called M and is allowed to bring a max of 20 ppl to sleep there. We managed to get on this trip, we slept in a sleeping bag under the stars on the beach. INCREDIBLE!! We went snorkelling off thebeach then watched sun set. The water is crystal clear there, you can literally see everything beneath you there, and the stars were so bright. Also we went for a swim after dark and in the water are illuminating plankton (proper name is phosphorous essence i think), so when you swim the water around you lights up - so cool!! There were a few guys who stayed on the beach illegally - not ahving permission - they had chartered a long tail boat to get them there which caused a but of friction. We sat around acamp fire, talking most of the night and then watched sun rise.
The next day we got a boat to Koh Lanta, got 2 bungalows on the beach between 4 of us (us 3 & an american guy, Brandon travelling alone) for half theprice of 1 room in Phi Phi! Although we are at one with nature here - you could say! First day here booked some fun scuba dives, today we did them - one on a shipwreck that sunk 10 yrs ago- although the current were too strong so we came up shortly after going down, very disappointed about that. The second was around a very small island, this was much better - we saw 2 leopard sharks, a turtle, a school of barracudas, sea horse, manta rays, sting rays + loads of fish!
Thats sbout where i'm up too.
Adios for now!!
