Firstly I would like to apologise for being so slack in updating my blog here's where I was last up to...
The Road trip in the Wicked camper between Melbourne and Adelaide was soooooo much fun! The freedom is unlike any other. Imagine waking up and just driving off to a new destination, not knowing where you are headed to or what you will see next. We got used to our new home and were sad to say goodbye. Just North of Melbourne we went to the Hanging Rock, the site where in 1900 4 schoolgirls disappeared on a schooltrip. Only one of them was ever found and she has no recollection of what had happened. We then hastily made our way to the long and winding great ocean road, along which we saw the Split Point lighthouse, home to the television series 'round the twist', the famous Twelve Apostles, 6 of them have fallen down and London Bridge which has also fallen down - I kid you not! We stayed at a different campsite every night, because we were too chicken to pull up on the road and sleep for free. One of the campsites we stayed at was called Bimbi Park near Apollo bay, it was in the middle of a woodland area with few amenities but I will never forget it. We spotted Koala bears and wild horses, amongst other animals, and unknowingly walked 4 miles to the beach. I managed to cook us a gourmet meal every night. My mother would be so proud!
I left poor Matt in Adelaide on his birthday and boarded a flight to Brisbane, where I caught a train to good ol' Bundy, home of Bundaberg rum. I am now reunited with the girls and many good times have been had. We had a fancy dress party on the Saturday before Easter, being the devout catholic I am, I chose to dress up as a nun. Others included, French Onion Sellers, Two old grannies, an Easter Egg, Togas, and a few people wearing age 6-7 halloween outfits.
I have been in the farming town of Bundaberg for a little over 3 weeks and have been working my arse off! After only 4 days of being here, I landed myself a cushty little job planting tomatoes on a farm. This is much easier than fruitpicking because all I am required to do is sit on the back of a tractor for 10 hours a day sticking my hand into fertilizer to plant the tomato plants. The tricky part of the job is manually walking through the fields replanting the ones that haven't grown properly and then snipping down the wires holding up the dead plants. The latter has given me particularly nasty blisters on my hand. I have met some great girls at work and when we have nothing better to do, we sit around and make up stories about all the farmers we work with, one of them we call Scary Steve because of his big beard (he has since shaved it off) and have decided that he keeps his ex girlfriend under his floorboards. All very immature stuff, but it keeps us going. 2 weeks ago, the owner of the hostel gave us his car to drive to the farm. We all joked that we better not do any damage to it, because we really would get evicted, these people don't muck around. Anyway, it just so happens that on that fateful day, the farm suffered a flash flood! We all drenched to the bone and the car wouldn't start. Unbelievable! Fortunately, Nasty Nigel, our head farmer managed to jump start it and it turns out that it wasn't the flood that caused it at all, more to do with the fact that it is an automatic and we left the door open all day, doh!
Thanks everyone for my birthday cards and presents!
Miss you all lots and can't wait to come home!
