OUr last Monday in Seattle was a day to work, explore and savor the things we love here!
Claire and I started out working online from home. I was in my virtual classroom on Zoom from 9 - 12; she was coding and in meetings until about the same time.
Our first big adventure was to go see a potential house for her move at the end of the month. This was in Green Lake not far from the water. It was a possibility as she continues to look for both roommates and places! Fortunately, there is a lot out there.
Grace and I split off then so that Claire could have some home time and we could do some final exploring. We headed downtown to the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). Our hope was to be able to get tickets for the Infinity Mirrors Exhibit (Yayoi Kusama). It was sold out online, but tickets are sometimes available on site - not for us though as they had sold out upon opening today. That was OK since we sitll got to enjoy the museum and to know that this exhibit definitely needs to be on our bucket list!
Now it was time to savor our favorites before leavning on Wednesday! We, or course, headed to Fremont! After an afternoon pick-me-up at Fremont Coffee, we headed to our favorite stop: Theo Chocolate! I think that we were in the store almost an hour, sampling, shopping and learning more about chocolate! Grace bought a t-shirt; me, a bunch of chocolate! Yum!
Our next Fremont savor was the water. We sat on the edge, laughing and soaking in all of that feeling. I would like to bottle the calm I feel when I sat there and just watched the geese swim, the paddle boarders row along and the random speed boats give us some waves. The sun shone down on us and the breeze was Seattle cool. Love this spot.
Our final savor for monday was a long overdue trip to the Fat Duck Deli up the street from Claire's apartment. Claire was out with friends, so Grace and I were on our own for dinner. Jaclyn remembered us from last year and knew that I had the three daughters with the beautiful names. (Well, yes, I do! And beautiful hearts, too, I might add!) After much deliberating and advising from Jaclyn, Grace and I toted out our turkey on asiago bagel sandwiches loaded with everything from avocado to jalapeno! She had us sit down and take a bit before she would wrap them up, just to make sure that they were just right! THe crowning jewel was the piece of carrot cake that she sent home for Claire!
WE enjoyed our bagels while watching My Best Friends Wedding and relaxing for the evening.
Goodnight Seattle - see you on the 4th!
