We woke up in Te Anau without any more trouble from locals. It was absolutely freezing though! I put on an extra pair of socks and another jumper before we set of for Queenstown. Luckily I can sit in bed and wear my seatbelt so I snuggled under my duvet for the journey. It took about two and a half hours to drive to Queenstown, and when we got there we parked in a pay and display to go and explore the town.
It is so lovely, it reminds me of a ski resort. There are mountains on one side and a lake on the other, and lots of cafes, bars and restaurants everywhere - it has the nicest atmosphere out of everywhere we've been so far I think. After using the internet for a bit we were going to head back to the campervan for some lunch, but instead we decdided to go to Fergburger. We had heard from many people about the legend that is Fergburger. The small place was absolutely jam packed - we placed our order straight away but had to wait about 25 minutes for it to arrive. However, it was totally worth it! The burger was huge, and came with a really nice relish and garlic aioli, and all in all was just great. I was determined to finish it. The last few bites were hard work but there was no way I was going to leave any of it. I have had many burgers in my life but my Fergburger with cheese was definitely in my top one.
After our burger we headed back to Colin and lazed about recovering for an hour or so, before deciding to go out and sample the nightlife which we'd heard so much about. We shared a bottle of vodka in the campervan so we were all already quite tipsy when we headed out. We went to a bar called the World Bar where they serve the cocktails in teapots, and had a very drunken but very fun night! Fergburger was still open when we left but we resisted the urge for a second!
So far so good in Queenstown!
