We left for Christchurch at 10ish this morning, and arrived at around lunchtime. We are staying in a campsite about 4km from the city centre, as unfortunately the centre is still off limits after the recent earthquakes. It's a shame because I've heard that Christchurch is a really nice place. We had a lazy morning in Tekapo, using the internet and stuff (the power had returned). After lunch Hannah drove us to a place called Geraldine which is halfway to Chrostchurch. There's not a lot going on Geraldine, so we just found a nice cafe where I had cup of tea and we read the papers. After some rice for dinner we spent the evening watching crime programmes on tv. After yet another lie in, we got up and had some breakfast, before reading for a bit in the campervan. We decided that we should probably actually go and see the lake at some point, so we went for a walk. The lake is unbelievably blue - apparently it is due to sediment in the water which makes it cloudy and then it reflects the sky or something. We saw the Church of the Good Shepherd which is a tiny old church perched on the edge of the lake which looks so cute....

We had to leave the campsite in Queenstown by 11am so we got up and showered, then filled the water etc. before going to park down the road so we could have a last walk around Queenstown. We gave back the DVDs we had rented, used the internet for a bit and then had some lunch in the campervan before setting off for our next destination.
