We left Annapolis Town Dock Marina as planned, right before 10am. My First Mate wanted to be in the pool at Herrington Harbor South Marina by noon.
The trip started with some wind and chop coming at us from the port quarter. Seas were from 1 to 2 feet. The boat handled it well but it was a bit bumpy.
As we left Annapolis Bay and made a right turn heading South on the Chesapeake the wind and tides were less of an issue.
We passed close by Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse (among our favorite spots) and Caroline got some more wonderful photos. At the lighthouse we made a slight right turn and headed straight into Herring Bay. That part of the trip the winds stopped and the seas became almost flat. Made for a very comfortable ride.
Once in Herring Bay there were VERY MANY crab pots. We had to deviate from our course to avoid them. Then we had to dodge sail boats near the entrance to HH South Marina. The effect of that was to slow our arrival a bit. We docked at 11:26 and Caroline got to the pool while the hour hand was still on 12 so I guess i did it right!
For the first two stops (Annapolis and Herrington Harbor South) we are traveling with Doug and Cristina (My Way Too). They are in a smaller boat and reported issues with the wind and waves that made their first leg uncomfortable and the trip to HH South more pleasant.
Now for some much needed R&R at Herrington South.
