I went into town this morning with Aunty Wendy, mainly because I only had my canvas sneakers I bought in Namibia for shoes and only one pair of long pants. While we were in the High Street we ran into Aunty Sally and Uncle Ted who I hadn't seen for years.
Aunty Wendy then left me in Peacocks to try on clothes and I spotted Aunty Chris and Gary. I went up behind Aunty Chris and said, Boo! She looked at me for a minute like she couldn't believe who she was looking at and then gave me a big hug. Where did you come from?! she said. Kenya, I replied simply. She and Gary both laughed and invited me around for a coffee after I had finished shopping.
I ended up with two pairs of jeans, a couple of tops, a parka vest and a new pair of boots, which was lucky as my sneakers were now soaked through. I went round to Aunty Chris's place, and my cousin David was there with his girlfriend Shaz and their daughter Sophie, my second cousin. They stayed for a bit and then Bev and John and their kids turned up. Gary had found an old sled in a dumpster and went and fished it out of the shed. We then all walked over to Castle Hill and went sledging, probably the most fun I'd had in ages. I slid down the hill on the wooden contraption, with my little second cousin Libby, who is about six. When we reached the bottom, she promptly jumped up and down excitedly. I trudged back up the hill, holding Libby's hand and taking great care not to slip over.
Aunty Chris, Gary, Bev and Jon all had a go of the sled. When we all got too cold we set of back home. I had a bit of trouble getting down the icy hill, Libby yelled out, Go down sideways! Cute. Once back at Aunty Chris's place, Gary, Jon and I got into a bit of a snow ball fight, which ended when Harry threw one at Libby's face and she ate some of it. Its alright, said Jon giving her a cuddle, It wasn't yellow so there's nothing to worry about. I hadn't laughed that much since, well I can't even remember when.
Gary lit the fire and we all toasted marshmallows over it and drank hot tea. Bev and Jon took the kids home and I stayed for a little while before Gary drove me back to Aunty Wendy's place, where I had an amazing roast chicken dinner and sat in the cosy living room watching TV before going to bed early.
