Managed to have a bit of a relaxing day today, well that is after I had gotten up at 7am and helped get breakfast for the passengers who were going on a bike safari today in Hell's Gate National Park. I sat at the bar and had a skype chat with Mum and Dad and did some other things on the internet. At about 1pm I went back to my tent and had a nap.
At 3pm I emerged from my tent and met our two passengers for their hippo cruise on Lake Naivasha on which I was accompanying them. We walked down to the lake and met the boat captain. We got into life jackets and then into the small boat. The captain pushed us out and off we went.
We saw lot of hippos, including one that was out of the water. The captain never lingered very long around the hippos as he was worried they would surface beneath us and attack. They do kill more people in Africa than any other animal.
At one point the captain threw a fish into the air and a giant fish eagle swooped down to get it. We saw lots of different birds in the wetlands including comorants and pelicans. We were out on the lake for about an hour before we were taken back to shore. The sun was setting and there was a storm coming in over the horizon. We had only just gotten in and it started to rain.
Once I was back at the campsite, I had to help Sue and Leanne cook dinner, after we had all eaten I spent a little more time at the bar before going off to bed in my tent.
