Managed to get a sleep in of sorts this morning and didn't have to get up to start breakfast until about 7am. I was actually the first one awake but couldn't do much as the truck was locked. We left Nakuru today and I was super excited to actually be going somewhere on the truck. I climbed up into it and got settled and we headed off down the very wet road from the campsite to and orphanage called Amazing Grace.
Once at the orphanage, we were swarmed by kids, tow came up to me, a boy named Tyson grabbed my hand and a little girl named Pauline put my arm around her. Pauline and Tyson then proceeded to show me around. They showed me where they went to school, and their vegie garden and their pet rabbits.
They took us all into their school room and made us draw things for them on the backboard, I was made to draw a lion (or a close approximation of one) Tyson then wrote Lion under my picture.
After they had finished showing me around it was time to play games with everyone else. Anyone who knows me, will know that I am at my most awkward when I am around kids, I just have no idea and don't know how to act. I decided today that I would just be a kid myself and be totally immature, that seemed to work well. We played games which first involved getting into a circle, the kids chanted, One two, make a circle, three four, a big circle. We then played games like, whats the time Mr. Wolf, although Mr Wolf is Mr Lion here, ring a ring a rosie, duck duck goose, did the hokey pokey and played statues.
After each game one of the kids would stand up and announce, The game is over! Which made Leanne and I laugh. We left the orphanage, I gave Tyson and Pauline a hug goodbye and told them I would see them again soon. We then went shopping for lunch in Naivasha town before heading into the camp. When we got into camp, our passengers went off to Elsamere (the home of Elsa the lion of Born Free fame), which I had alrady been to and Sue, Leanne and I proceeded to put up all fourteen tents and inspect and clean them. It was a mammoth task which took the rest of the afternoon.
After the tent fiasco, we went to the camp bar for a well earned Tusker beer and I asked Leanne if she could play pool, I'm not particularly good, but I like it, she said. Same, I said. Our two passengers were now back, and Leanne and I gave them a game of doubles, we rocked that game. Julian couldn't seem to sink anything, so I said we should swap partners. I volunteered to partner up with Julian, and Adrianna said I'd probably carry the team. After three games and not sinking a thing, something miraculous happened, Julian got better and sunk half our balls. He got us right down to the black, which I then sunk and stood up straight and announced, The game is over! Leanne was in stitches.
We went back to the truck and cooked a quick dinner and cleaned up before coming back to the bar and playing some more pool and drinking with Kevin, the tour leader from the ATC truck. I went to bed in my tent quite late and I was completely exhausted.
