We arrived in at Prague at about 7am and walked to hotel Europa. This has to be my favourite hotel so far. It is the oldest hotel in Prague and inside it looks like a palace. It has big plush arm chairs in the corridors, old wooden furniture and Persian rugs on floors made of pink and white marble. It had a central winding staircase and a central atrium with hanging chandelier. It regal, but old regal. Upon arrival at the hotel we had a break of about an hour and a half and then set out on our walking tour.
We walked to the old town square and saw the famous clock strike the hour, there was a man at the top playing the trumped and there were hundreds of tourists everywhere. We had coffee in a little café and I had one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had. It was lovely sitting in the sun amongst the canals.
Prague is wonderful, so bohemian, lots of little shops to wander into, awesome bars and strange museums. We crossed the bridge over the river and ended up at Prague castle and St Vitus's church. Which was one of the most amazing churches I've even seen, and I've seen a lot of churches. It was a gothic masterpiece, which a green bronze roof and covered in gargoyles, it looked even more sinister than Notre Dame in Paris.
Sara and I left the group up near the castle and meandered back down the hill. We had lunch in a nice little café and then went to the train station to buy tickets for up coming tours, a process which took us another hour.
After the train ticket fiasco, we made our way back to the hotel and managed to get in a little break before taking two of the passengers out for dinner and a nice little traditional Czech place.
