Official last day as a Tucan Travel Tour leader, wow its been a wild ride from start to finish. I managed to get a much needed sleep in, which ended up costing me dearly as Andy came to my door at about 10am asking me if I wanted to go to the Summer Palace with him. This mean I had to have an ultra quick shower and then a rush complete repack, that never ends well.

I met Andy down in the lobby and we went to have something to eat at the Wangfujing shopping centre. We had really awesome Japanese food, something I fear I won't see much of in Africa. We then marched ourselves down to the metro and got on the train basically to the end of the line, where we met Bobbie who was joining us for the day.

We walked about fifteen minutes from the train station to the Summer Palace, if I had known how big this place was I would have gotten up earlier. It was a whole complex, bigger even the forbidden city! We spent about two hours just looking around the first lots of buildings, Andy and I even got dressed up as Emperor and Empress, although he kept calling me concubine! Cheeky buggar!

We eventually hiked up to the top pagoda looking thing to be met with an amazing view of Kunming Lake and the boats all over it. We got a boat to the island in the middle and Andy, again met some friends from the train. We had a little bit more of a look around before getting the train back to near our hotel and going off to dinner. When we got back my cab was waiting for us and I said goodbye to Andy and headed off to the airport to start my next adventure.

I had a bit of a wait at the airport and as everything was shut there really wasn't that much to do to kill time. I ended up sitting in the only open café and updating my blog, although I couldn't post it as there was no WiFi. Finally, I got on the plane, and you know what I actually fell asleep as it was taking off, I woke up and we had been in the air for about three hours already! After all this time I've finally discovered the secret to sleeping on planes! Get the red eye and really wear yourself out!
