Early start again this morning, back to the Great Wall of China for the second time this week. Albiet, with a much nicer group of people. The May day festival is on this week so consequentially, we got stuck in four hours worth of traffic on the way to the wall and then another four hours on the way back and had to walk nearly the whole way to the wall, because lots of locals were visiting for the day.
I decided not to go up as I had one lady who couldn't do it because she has a bad hip. I stayed down with her and went back to my Chinse restaurant and had the amazing sweet and sour pork again. The group had a great time up at the wall and no one was late back…a first. I sat in the sun eating my Chinese version of a banana split paddle pop and appreciating life until everyone was ready to get back on the bus.
We had a long drive back to Beijing in the horrendous traffic, which no one complained about and then went out for out Peking Duck dinner. I had taken the money up front for the dinner and I just ordered all the food when we arrived and then paid the bill at the end and the client paid for their own drinks. I ordered enough duck for everyone who wanted it, and Robert even had a go at eating the head, which he said he wouldn't recommend. I ordered three rice dishes, which came out last, Kung Pao Chicken, honey prawns, crispy chicken with strawberries, bean salad and spicy vegetables, BBQ lamb with pancakes and black pepper beef.
The dinner was a hit and everyone thanked me for taking them out. Most of us went back to the hotel after dinner, for our mega early start to catch the train to Mongolian tomorrow.
