We departed from Paris at 9:30am for our longest bus ride for the tour-- (suppose to be) 9 hours to get to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland! There was a break every 3 hours with a packed lunch provided.
Going through NE France, the landscape turned mountainous with many houses built into the mountains and vineyards sprawled in between river streams... Getting close to the Swiss border!
....omg. After a few hours we're still winding and twisting around.
....apparently (overheard Luke talking to Dave) we have taken the wrong route so...it's gonna take ages. F!
By around 7, we finally reach the Swiss border! It has taken us close to 8 hours to get here (less the breaks). F!!
It was supposed to be a further 1.5 hours to get to Lauterbrunnen. The scenery was SPECTACULAR! rolling hills turned into cute houses nestled into huge mountains surrounding a large blur lake. If only we'd gotten here 2 hours earlier, then it'd still be bright enough(and be less cranky) to see the scenery properly! However the thing that made me cranky was actually the music that was playing from Luke's iPod on the bus ride. Some old 80s music. it really annoyed me lots..
The time we arrived at Lauterbrunnen was 9:30pm. Frikin 12 HOURS on the road today. F!!!
By now the whole bus was cranky with Luke. And Luke could feel it, apologizing for he long day and thanking us for being patient. Then it came to allocating the cabin rooms to us. The campsite was dark and damn cold. We walked around but couldn't find out cabin #8. finally Luke found the manager and we were told it was up some STAIRS on the THIRD floor. All the girls were allocated here whilst all the boys (who had less luggage in general) were on the ground floor cabins. 30 odd girls had to lug their luggage up these stairs. F!!!!
You could tell Luke felt really bad though and helped most of us halfway up the stairs with our luggage.
Andie and I were laughing and going delirious at this stage as it has been a frikin adventure ALL day. Eveything that could go wrong had gone wrong! The only redeeming thing was somehow me and Andie were the only ones allocated to twin share a 4-bedded dorm, whilst everyone else was sharing 4 to a room.
Dinner was a Swiss cheese fondue and roast pork with vegies and gravy...both very yummy!! I felt alot better now!
Andie tried to get info from Luke on what things she needed to know for skydiving tomorrow. Luke was vague as usual and didn't really answer (or know of the answer) to her questions. Diuuu..
Our summary for the day: even if we had more than 24 hours in a day. It would still not be enough for Luke. Touché.. Frikin..!
Ugh looking forward to tmr! Nothing can get worse right?!
