We departed Aix at 11am towards the direction of Nice. We are staying at Beaulieu-sur-Mer tonight, about 10km away from Nice, on the Cote d'Azur. We had a major laundry disaster this morning. The dryer literally burned holes into our delicate clothes (the lace, chiffon ones), disintegrated our laundry bags, and turned some some of our other clothes or towels papery. F!!!! We both woke up early to have the petit dejeuner at the hotel courtyard. It was a lovely setting with a slight summer breeze blowing. A great start to the morning! We headed out to explore the rest of this region, first stopping at (another) lavender distillery in Apt, then headed to Rousillion, a town famous for its ochre rocks. Bastille Day today! We left at 10:30 to go to explore this Luberon region, very famous for its lavender fields which are in bloom from July to August. We got maps of the area, marking out the lavender route we were going to take. The first stop: Rustrel -- a town famous for its ochre colored caves. Not much to see though.
