DAY 28: it's our final day of the Grand European 28 day tour! We bid farewell to Amsterdam at 7:30am and headed for Brugge, Belgium for a short lunch stop and to buy Belgium chocolates of course! Visited the Brugge town square and got the famously delicious Leonidas chocolates...(they were fantastic) and yummy Belgian chocolate waffles before jumping on the bus again at 12:30...headed for the ferry port at Calais.
For once, Andie was wishing for the bus ride to last a bit longer as we pulled into Calais Port around 2:30pm. We bid farewell to Dan and the Topdeck tour bus that we had been married to for the last 28 days with one last group shot.
It's starting to get a little sad now. The tour is actually nearing an end.
We caught the 4:30pm ferry from Calais, France back to Dover, England. After another bus transfer back to the Clink hostel at Kings Cross, arriving at 6:30pm. Luke gave another mini speech about how great of a group we were and that we made it a very memorable first trip experience for him too. Rhys however got the last word, by presenting Luke with the stiff-s*** book -- the notebook documenting all the funny quotes, notable mentions and the winners of the topd*** awards at each city (Luke got a number of mentions in this book too of course). We thought this was the best present to give to Luke over anything else. Luke promised to try not to lose the book and that he would get his future tour groups to add to it, bringing it with him to our reunion one year later.
As we bid farewells to everyone at the Clink Hostel, a few girls cried and even Eddy got a bit teary!
It was a fantastic, memorable, disaster-filled but awesomely fun trip that satisfied us with exactly what we wanted-- we were transported to and shown highlights of each city, trying the local food, beer and wine, socialising and partying, making new friends, laughing and having the time of our lives.
It was a great decision to have done this Topdeck tour :))
Now it was back to Selina's place for 2 days of rest before San Fermin (Pamplona) for racing of the bulls!
