The past two days have been great, yesterday we just spent the day in and around Meo Vac, it was Sunday and every Saturday and Sunday there is a big market and all of the people from the surrounding villages come into town to buy and sell stuff, it was amazing there were all kinds of people, and they all dressed so differently, all the women had really colourful head scarfs and all kinds off colour full skirts, and every now and then you would see people wearing the same cloths I guess its how they all know where they are from, I had breakfast in the market, the area where they were making food was so smoky my eyes were stinging buy the end on my noddles, but I had a amazing time at the market the people were so unique, I managed to get lots of great portraits of the people with my camera, they were all so friendly they would all laugh when I would show them the photo I took I used my tele-photo lense so I was able to get great portraits from far away, I took the unicorn to the mechanic later, the breaks were completely worn out, I got new frount and back breaks put on and got more fluid fut into my front suspension, after that I went for a ride we rode as fast as we could to make it into Meo Vac, so we did have to ride in the dark and we passed some amazing villages, so I rode back the way we came and stopped and took photos for the people along the way, I would park the bike and just walk threw the villages and I would get chased by the occasional dog but the people were very welcoming, I got back in Meo Vac after afew hours and I was tiered I just spent the rest of the day relaxing and listening to my i-pod I love listening to new songs while im over seas, so now when ever I hear these songs on my ipod the song will take me back to Meo Vac, and the beautiful people I meet, we had dinner with the Canadians and then just when to sleep the hotel we were staying at was really nice but the beds were rock hard it was like sleeping on the floor, but it was good for my back.
Today started off like any other day the alarm rang at 5:50am and we got up nd packed our bags and we left the hotel by 7am and when I went around to visit the local villages I saw a trail that said it led to Dang Van in 23km so we wanted to ride threw Dong Van on our way back to Ha Giang so we headed that way and we got onto the trail it was nearly unpassable we rode 2km into the trail and it was so hard my arm were so sore, the trail hade huge rocks every where and it was so bumpy the bikes were bouncing all over the place, we just stopped and decided to turn around and go another way, riding back down was even harder my arms were dead by the time we got down, but we were back on the road, we rode back into Meo Vac and headed into the mountains to get to Dong Van, we rode up and up into the surrounding mountains until we were literally riding in the clouds and there were still people living up here, I could see homes up on a mountain side a least 1km up and away from the road and there would be a little walking path that let to these homes, these people were really isolated it would at least take 1 hour to walk up and how on earth did they carry all the materials to build there houses there in the first place, It was an amazing view, we were riding on the edge of a really steep mountain and there was no barriers, but the view was amazing im sure we were looking into china as we were riding so close to the border, we rode for the next few hours and in Dong Van we found a place to eat breakfast, and they had Pancakes, they were with Banana and honey and sugar they were sooooo good we each had 4 pancakes and kept riding we got back on the road we found when we crossed that swollen river with the bamboo raft and sopped in a small town to have a break, in the mountains it was soo cold but now we were in the valley and it was soo hot I took some time to wonder around and took some great shots of the locals working in the rice fields, after 30mins we were back on the bikes and riding hard, we still hade 100km to ride and it was 1pm in total we had to ride 180km, we rode up and down mountains till we finally arrived at the entrance to the town of Ha Giang from here we only had another 9km to go, 3km before getting to the hotel I riding in front of the group and I saw two police men standing in the road I spotted them 400 meters ahead and slowed down one of them went into the middle of the road and waved his batten at me and made us pull over, now we knew that the police like to pick on foreigners, but we all agreed at if we were ever stopped by the police we would now speck a word of English, the two Canadians new a few words in French a few German word even a little Russian so I stopped and got off my bike and then we started I was talking in Romanians with Daniel the Canadians were hitting us with every word they knew in another language the police kept saying speed that we were speeding we all made our self’s look so confused I kept on saying in Romanian I don’t speak any English so the cop pulls out his phone and types speed 50 in it try to say that we were speeding, at his stage the Canadians were speaking gibberish, we were all talking to each other and looking dumbfounded, and then the cops saw that they couldn’t get anything out of us and just like that they let us go, after we rode past we all gave each other high fives on the road and laughed about it when we had dinner, we thought that next time we get pulled over we should just try and make animal sounds and see it that get us off…, anyway where planning on heading to Sapa over the next few days and then me and Daniel will see if we want to continue riding in the north and ride back to Hanoi and sell the bikes and then catch a train down south to Saigon, we only have a one month visa so were going to ride together with the Canadians to Sapa and then we might part ways, but its been lots of fun riding with them.
