We got up this morning and 6am and it was till raining the river that ran behind the hotel had really swollen up and we even saw a tree fall into the river, we got our wet weather gear on and my shoes were still completely wet, but there was not point staying in this little town so we and the Canadians left around 7am, we had a great ride for about 2 hours, till the unicorn started running out of magic… her electric start wasn't working anymore so I always had to kick start it or roll her down the hill but now we had a real problem… slowly and slowly she had no more power and I couldn't make it up any hills, she just stoped…. But luckily I had some sticky tape handy and felt like water had gotten into the spark plug, so I cleaned it up and sealed to spark plug connection again and she started up again... but not for long a few mins later I was on the side of the road again this went on a few times till we had no choice but to tow her behind daniels bike to the next town which was 12km away, the Canadians stayed with us and helped, getting towed didn't seem to slow us down and soon enough we found a mechanic, he was great he fixed my electrical problems changed my spark plug, adjusted the valves and changed my oil two, it was grate I took it for a test and soon enough I was on the side of the road again, I rolled it back to him and he took a look at it and told me I had no petrol left in the petrol tank, that was handy, I had about half a liter in there but the hose wasn't sucking any petrol, I got it to a petrol station filled her up, she was as good as new, I got all this work done for $5 we all got our oil changed and got some maintanace done on all the bike and we offered the mechanic a tip but he just wouldn't accept it he even wanted to make us lunch buy it was already mid day and we had to get a move on, it had been raining all morning and the rain showed no intention of stopping so we kept on riding we rode for hours threw the rain, I was riding at the back of the pack and the had the Canadian father Wally riding in front and he took a corner a little to fast and hit a patch of oil at the same time and the bike just slid from under him and hit the ground I slammed my brakes on and slid into his bike but managed to stay upright jumped off picked his bike up off him and he got up fine, he wasn't going fast at all, and he didn't hurt himself his bike had a few scratches but he was fine, we kept riding and the rain had stopped and we found a big waterfall off a side road and there was a walking trail up to the top we walked up to the top and had a break, and then it was back on for the last 35km to Ha Giang, as soon as we left it started raining and I only had a T Shirt on 45min into the ride me and the Canadians were drenched Daniel had left all his gear on, it kept raining more and more the higher we got, and it was starting to get colder but we only had 10km to go, we got into town, and we were really keen on finding a good hotel, we drove around for 20 min and then we found a really nice place for only $15 a night, we had a great warm shower and headed into town to find some food, found a nice restaurant and spent the new few hours eating and chatting till it got dark, and be fore we went out to eat we found someone to get our permits done so that we could ride up further north so it looks like tomorrow we got a early start to ride up to the northenest point in Vietnam we hear there are some amazing dirt roads on the way there or on the way back depending which way we leave tomorrow so I hope the rain stops and we can have some sun shine for a change…
