We are on the island of Langkawi, still but only just in Malaysia. We took the train (8 hours) from Kuala Lumpur to a place called Butterworth, then a ferry to Penang. We had been told that Penang was a great place to visit - it's not!

We left as soon as we could, there is a direct ferry from Penang to Langkawi but it was full so we took a minibus back to the mainland and north to another ferry terminal and caught "The Ice Boat" (actually called Sea Star 2 but it was like a freezer with the air-con) to Langkawi.

We have done nothing since we arrived but sit on the beach and read! I think that is the plan for tomorrow too. We have a few more nights here and then we are making our way by bus - ferry - bus to Phuket!
