Just before we start today's blog... Need to share a funny story with you all. The bus driver we had for our Washington tour ended each sentence with mmm-mmm... Hannah has picked this little mannerism up and now does it without thinking!!! ( 13 times and still counting today!) We started off with a visit to the chain of rocks bridge which was the original route 66 crossing of the Mississippi river... The river is very low and we could see schools of carp swimming...

Our tour guide mentioned this quote last night which we both liked.... "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page..." we thought it was a nice one ! We started the day with a well earned sleep in until 9.30. We then ventured off on our tour of Chicago. We thought it would be a great idea to use the hop on hop off bus tour to get to know the town a bit....well we definitely chose the wrong bus company as we had the dodgiest bus driver who had to have a smoke at nearly every stop and our tour guide was either invisible or if it was the girl at the back of the bus.....well she just couldn't be bothered. Today was a mighty long day but we finally arrived in Chicago ...after one cancelled flight, two missed standbys and a slightly disgruntled partridge in a pair tree. We did miss our hook up and intro with the tour guide...alas...so now we are madly trying to get in contact with him to work out what is happening tomorrow and share our luggage growth with him !!! Route 66 here we come. Let's just amend part of this blog by stating that our tour doesn't really star...

Well it was another early start as we had to meet our shuttle bus to the airport at 6.40am ( even though it was 20 minutes late )... A tad confused in relation to where to check in and once again security was mighty tight. Had a pretzel breakfast ( liking these lots) and then waited for our flight to Philadelphia ...
