We started the day with a well earned sleep in until 9.30. We then ventured off on our tour of Chicago. We thought it would be a great idea to use the hop on hop off bus tour to get to know the town a bit....well we definitely chose the wrong bus company as we had the dodgiest bus driver who had to have a smoke at nearly every stop and our tour guide was either invisible or if it was the girl at the back of the bus.....well she just couldn't be bothered. We were so glad to get off that bus. We nearly felt like reaching in and taking out some of his tip money. We went to the Sears ( now called the Willis) towers to get a view of the town...but a one and a half hour wait made us reconsider that idea and we went for pizza at the world famous Giordanos..well each slice was a meal in itself !!!! We then decided to walk ( still scarred by the bus experience)... We went to millennium park to see the reflective bean which was pretty cool and then did some souvenir shopping. I am not overly fond of the revolving doors which seem to be absolutely everywhere. Hannah is still trying to get me on a bike or a segway...however i opted for the horse ride in new york only to see on the news today that a horse and carriage went beserk in new york ( now not too sure about my judgment there...hannah chuckling in the background) Our next stop was the aquarium..we walked along the shore line which was a nice little stroll..but by the time we got there we realized that there was a bit of a wait and we had to get back to meet our tour guide...so we turned around and walked back !! Randy is our tour guide...he is an enthusiastic guy who has made us really excited about our tour of route 66. We then had a meet and greet of the other people on the tour....there are 38 people on the tour....it is a real mix of nationalities with a couple of Australians. We have already clicked with a couple form Melbourne and a mum and son from England. We can't wait to get started. Finished the day with lovely dessert in the lobby of our hotel...Hannah's choice of cocktail was something you would use to strip paint...rather nasty!!!!
