Peter Gabriel warbles Sledgehammer in my head. The rum from last night still there. I wake Craig up as no point in suffering alone. We go snorkeling to clear our heads. I must point out that there are various hangover cures that are tried and tested - irn bru and a bacon roll, 2 raw eggs in a glass, a bloody Mary or slapping a bear and running real fast. My personal favourite (LT) is now snorkeling along a shallow reef. A visual treat for the senses. I float watching a turtle beneath, close enough to touch. There is something amazing about seeing a turtle break the surface for air. I find myself holding my breath waiting for it to rise. The coral is outstanding, not as colourful as Bunakin, but providing home to an unusual amount of pipefish as well as colourful nudibranch.
We go for a BLT and coffee in a nearby cafe. Afterwards I head into Moal Boal leaving Craig to his siesta. I walk around the main street with fruit stalls on one side and shops and cafes on the other. Asking a local for directions I head to the bank machine at the local chemist. Confusion rains as I am told to wait outside as only 3 people can queue inside. Half melting the air con is a welcome relief.
We go for a sunset snorkel and watch the light change across the reef. Dinner consists of a pizza at la tegola italian restaurant next to the sea.
We go back to chilli's, which has become a magnet for entertainment.
2 pool tables keep the bar social. We are hanging out with Mai and her friends. She is on holiday from Cebu and a great source of knowledge on the Philippines. We teach the locals how to play Killer on the dartboard. Unfortunately quick learners and get beaten. I blame the rum and Craig's wonky eyes. The bars motto looms over the pub "The liver is evil and must be punished". Play a great game of pool but pot the white ball on the black. Midnight swim is forfeit. Not deep and its refreshing in the heat. Pipefish all around us and an illuminessence in the water as I move my hand around.
