A bit of a lie in after last night and have missed breakfast. Craig has headed out. I type up some notes and in between one of the bursts of heavy rain, I head out to get some lunch.
Sitting at the Bamboo Tree restaurant, I have a few banana shakes and a burger. I miss my next dry window and stay to type up my notes and watch the world go by. A great people watching location across from Central Backpackers.
A lazy afternoon as the rain is continuous today.
Craig returns and had been to the Blue Lagoon, a swimming pond with a large tree to jump out off. He had jumped from the higher branch and unfortunately dropped his go pro. Borrowing a mask, it was nowhere to be a found. We will both head there tomorrow with masks to hunt for it.
We head back and find a restaurant to watch the sunset. Across from Craig's favourite restaurant that sold Chicken Laap. I suggest he tries it again but he politely declines. The food in Laos is rather dull, with the exception of noodle soup and western food, but I go for chicken and cashew nuts which is as unremarkable as the majority of dishes. We go back to the Kangaroo bar and meet one of the bar staff Jimmy. He had left for a few days after slicing his head open and badly cutting his knee tubing. We double up and play Craig and the DJ at beer pong. We talk with another barman from Dubai. Slightly irritating as he has spent the day taking magic mushrooms.
We catch the end of Sakura's free drinks. We stay for the evening and its a friendly crowd in there on a mix of whiskey and nitrous oxide from balloons sold at the bar. I speak with a guy from kazikstan whilst Craig joins the masses dancing on the pool table. I must stress this is a much better usage of the old pool table. Jaidee's is still open and it seems to close a little later than most places. Jaidee offers me a whiskey and informs me afterwards its made with Opium. It certainly explains his cheery nature.
We find a small stall selling chicken baguettes with cheese and whether the whiskey or the beer, a great post pub snack as we stagger along the road home
