A lazy day and decide to relax in Kampot. We go to the ice cream and pie for the worlds greatest hotdog. Relaxing I catch up on my notes. I'm finding the off exploring website a pain, but keep my notes up to date on my phone for an easy transfer when WiFi presents itself. We go sit at Tiki's out of the sun enjoying the breeze and the riverside view.
For dinner we head to Victoria's for some decent Khmer food. I have the Kampot chicken. Spicy with the pepper but Cambodians know how to season well. Sitting watching the sunset, Billy arrives. We go to Bacarra where a local variation of tapas can be bought. An English friend of Billy's turns up called Niall. He runs a cinema in Phnom Penh. They show all types of films and you can even rent a film to download to your computer and watch in a private room.
Billy works in the film industry as a lighting engineer. He has given talks at the cinema. An experienced engineer who has worked on many large films including Boyhood and True Grit.
We head to Moi Tiet and say hello to Matt at the bar. Start speaking to Julianne, a film producer and produces for a Cambodian psych band called the Cambodian space project. Billy has been making the videos. Before the KR, Cambodia had a very happening psychedelic music scene and they are trying to restart it.
We arrange to meet Billy at Ellie's cafe for breakfast. He mentions her English is very good so he can have richer conversations from politics to religion. Talking about some of her superstitious beliefs white witches and black witches are mentioned. If you are bitten by a snake a white witch can whistle and call the snake back. It will then be forced to bite you again and suck the poison out. A black witch has the power to turn you inside out. An interesting blend of old and new culture.
