Tonight was my last night in Phuket Town and what started out as a 3 day booking in the hostel turned out to be a massive 20 day stay in the same hostel, I will not bore you with daily reports of me going out at 17:00 for dinner, drinking through the night until 02:00 or even as late as 08:00 in the morning on several occasions and then sleeping through to 16:00 and getting up and doing it all again the next day. I will upload a selection of photos but not go through and explain them as they are all in the bar next to the hostel or in Patong, you will be able to guess which ones were taken where.
I have met a great bunch of people here, including some very nice French guys (can you believe it!) and they had all decided to stay in the one 1 place for pretty much the same reason as me. They had all been travelling around South East Asia for a long while and had got fed up of packing their bags every 2 days or so and though that it would be good just to stay in one place and not have to keep moving about. I am glad I did as it meant that we got past the usual "How long have you been travelling for?" and “Where have you been\going to?” and managed to get some decent conversations and make some good friends.
One thing that I have learnt and that is.....You know when you have been somewhere too long, when the bar next to the hostel throws a leaving party for you with balloons and food (although I did have to buy the food) and some party games when they know it is your last day at the hostel.
Yes, it was definitely time to move on and go and see some other places.
It seemed like another great idea at the time but someone suggested that we all stay up drinking all night (again), which we all did and at 05:15 I caught my taxi to the airport straight from the bar. When I got to the airport I was a little concerned as I hadn't really thought this through too much and I could have been refused my flight if they thought I was too drunk. Luckily, I pulled it off and managed to get my flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia without any problems.
