I landed in Kuala Lumpur (KL) on time and grabbed a taxi from the airport to my hostel, which was a set fee from the airport to anywhere in the city centre. I had booked in at Bedz KL in the Golden Triangle district of KL purely based on Richard's recommendation as he stayed here when he was in KL. The Golden Triangle area of KL is the central business, shopping and entertainment district so there was plenty of things to do here and most of the KL tourist sites were within walking distance too.
I got to my hostel and I crashed out for a few hours as I had missed a nights sleep again.
I got up and went down to the lounge area of the hostel and decided to update some of my blog rather than head out around the city. I am here for a couple of days so I’ll do the tourist things tomorrow. While sitting there on the laptop I got talking to Donna who was also in there on her laptop. She was telling me how she had got so drunk last night that she had been thrown out of a hotel rooftop bar because she had jumped in the pool fully clothed at around 2am. She thinks that she might not be welcome there again.
In the evening I went off for some food with Donna to the local market and then we walked around trying to find a bar that wasn’t ridiculous prices, I guess we were both used to Thailand beer prices and it seemed so expensive here even though they were still cheaper than UK prices. We managed to find somewhere that had a happy hour and had a couple of beers and then headed back to the hostel as the drink there was much cheaper.
At the hostel we both got talking to Nick and the three of us ended up drinking late in to the night. Me and Nick were debating whether or not a coke bottle would spray up in to the air with a mentos fruit sweet. I said that it had to be a mentos mint and not the fruit ones. Nick disagreed and went over to the 7eleven to purchase a bottle of Coke to prove me wrong. I have uploaded the video so that you can see who was right.
