The night bus was an absolute nightmare from Bangkok and I didn't manage to get much sleep at all on the bus. First of all the bus was about an hour late leaving Bangkok and we were all left sitting on a roundabout just near Koh Sarn Road wonder if and when the bus would turn up. We finally left Bangkok at around 20:30 and then once out of the city the bus stopped again at around 23:00 for the usual toilet and food break for 30 minutes. Then at 02:00 it stopped again at Chumphon to drop off everyone who was going to Koh Tao and then it stopped again at 06:00 in Surat Thani to drop everyone off where we waited around for about an hour for another coach load of people to arrive. Then we were split up to those going to Phuket Island (only 5 of us) and the others who were going to Koh Samui and Ko Pha-Ngan (for the full moon parties).

We got taken first which we all thought we were going directly to Phuket Island, but instead we were taken into the town in a taxi and dropped off at another bus station and told that we would have to wait 1.5 hours until we could get another mini bus.

I finally got dropped off in Phuket Town at around 12:00 and then had to get a taxi over to my hostel which I had booked on hostelworld.com while in Bangkok. I didn't really know which town I should stay at on Phuket Island but picked this one by the reviews on their website.

Once checked in to one of the dorm rooms which only contained 2 bunkbeds, I dumped my stuff and had a nap to try to catch up on some lost sleep from my night on the bus.

In the evening I went out to try to find some food and then headed to the bar which was next door to the hostel. In the bar I got talking to an English couple (Tom & his girlfriend) and their friend. We had a few drinks in the bar and then popped next door to the 7 Eleven for a bottle of local rum and some coke and lemonade and headed back to the terrace at the hostel. After polishing off the rum Tom & his girlfriend and their friend went off to bed as their friend had an early bus to catch and I popped back to the bar next door to see who was there and I met Steve & Sarah and Daniel.


When the bar shut next door we all went back to the hostel and had 1 last drink in the garden area outside the back of the hostel and decided to put on the funny hats.
