Our last few days in Turkey have been relaxing and enjoyable. We left Kas early and there was hardly any traffic on the road and none of the traffic lights were working. We have been lucky again in that we have found another beautiful camping place this time just 800m out of the town of Kas. We are on a rocky cove with terraces down to the beach, a diving centre, a small bar/restaurant. The small harbour is lined with restaurants and is more a backpacker, independent traveller desination than some of the mass tourist resorts along the coast. We skirted the holiday town of Marmaris which is pretty much a mass tourism resport although it does have a nice harbour and promenade and drove down the peninsualr for 25k looking for a particular campsite that a French couple had recommended to us. We had another long drive again today passing through Izmir where we later heard there had been a bombing by Turkish rebels but we hadn't seen anything. We crossed into Turkey which was better organised than some of the border crossings so far. First we had to get motor insurance whichw as US65 and US20 for our Visas. We headed for Gallipoli a slender peninsular on the Dardanelle straits. Many fleets have tried to force their way up these straits including the Allied Forces in World War I and failed.
