Namibia is a photographers dream - it boasts wild sea scapes, rugged mountains, deserts, wildlife, colonia cities and plenty of speace as the population is only 1.8m in a country that is 825,000 sq km.
We entered Naminia via the Caprivi Strip where the boundries of Zimbabwe, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana meet. The strip is 500 km long and it took us 2 days to drive through. We were very impressed with the standard of camping in Namibia after our first camp, gone are the dirty toilet blocks and cold showers. Most sites have electricity, a fire pit, stone table and stools and hot showers!!! Our first camp, unfortunately named Bum Hill, had a tent platform on each pitch set high in the trees to watch the wildlife and a personal kitchen sink, toilet and shower for each pitch.
Ngepi Camp near Popa Falls which is considered to be one of the best camps in Namibia had very quirky ablutions which included a tin bath which anyone could use in total privacy and a toilet with completely open views over the countryside where one could have a private wildlife viewing whilst sitting on the 'throne'.
There is a very strong germanic influence in Namibia and we passed through many villages with Germany sounding names like Grootfontein and most of them had little coffee shops with delicious looking Garman pastries and cakes.
