We drove further down the coast but this part of Greece is not particularly attractive and rather industrial in parts. We passed through a few towns along the way eventually stopping in Alexandroupolis 43k from the Turkish border which turned out to be a bit of a gem.

This coastal town saw a hive of activity with some really trendy coffee and wine bars as up to the minute as anything in Manchester, in the evening full of young Greeks enjoying the night life.

The municipal campsite was right on the beach and we enjoyed a couple of days enjoying the sunshine doing nothing much before venturing on to Turkey.

Unfortunately, somewhere in Greece we both ate or drank something which didn't agree with us and we have had to resport to antibiotics to clear up our gippy tummy after the Imodium failed to work!!!
