After a very cold night, waking up to only 6 degrees plus the fact that our heater in our camper has packed up we decided the time had come to move on and find warmer weather. We left Slovenia about 9 a.m. and drove halfway down Croatia to the beautiful coastal town of Trogir where we have stayed before. When we arrived some 8 hours and just over 300 miles later the temperature was a much warmer 23 degrees.
When we were here in August 2005 we really enjoyed Torgir with its old town sitting on a tiny island and it has retained many buildings from the 13th & 17th centuries. It wasn't as busy as the last time we were there but we still enjoyed strolling around the harbour and visiting the busy market on Saturday. Sunday was a much slower pace with all the cafes full of people sitting in the sun reading the papers. the temperature all the time we were there was an average 24 and we could sit out well into the evening.
The campsite was overlooking the sea and we chose what looked like a good spot with great views to watch the yachts coming in and out of the harbour as many company's use Trogir as a stopping off point for flotilla holidays.
On the terrace behind us was a row of caravans all with large awnings and it turned out that six of the caravans were occupied by various groups from the Czech Republic. They were a bit loud shouting to each other but other than that ok. However, on the last day one group of about 10 middle aged guys started drinking at about 8 a.m. and continued all day. They never moved from their spot and spend the day drinking (visiting the loo!!) chatting and laughing and generally having a good time. At about 7 p.m. they got out a guitar and we ate dinner listening to Czech folk songs. By the time they got around to what sounded like a Czech rendition of 'show me the way to go home' we decided it was time to retire to bed!!! Our earplugs came in handy that night because quite a few of them sat up chatting until the early hours, but they were never over exhuberant or a problem in any way.
