So if you read yesterdays blog you know that today was Swiss day! We were really excited to celebrate Swiss day at the mountain hostel as we had seen pictures online and it looked like a real good time. We were told that the festivities started around 2 so we decided instead of another big hike (to be honest the 3 of us were a little stiff after yesterday) we would go with the Aussies to the "flower walk" and have a relaxing morning.
Thank god the views were amazing because the flowers weren't much of a sight.. The only one making them cook was edilvise ( like from the sound of music.. And of course the song was sung. We walked for a while and then just stopped in a big open creek and had a picnic and hang out. We put our wine in the stream to be chilled and just relaxed, enjoying what nature had to offer. After a few hours we headed back to our hostel to eat drink and be marry in true Swiss spirit.
After dinner we drank and played cards until it was dark at which point we took part in the xeromonial lantern walk. Each one of us were given a lantern with a tea light in it and a Swiss flag on the front. Then being lead by people with fire torches we all walked through the city. It was the coolest thing to be a part of and see. A lot of people from town took place and those who didn't stood infront of their houses and waves at us as we passed by or set off fountain fireworks as we went by. Once we got back to our hostel, Walter, one of the owners of out hostel was in charge of the fireworks display, and boy did he out do himself! They were awesome, and I'm not even a fan of fireworks! After that we partied into the early morning before heading to bed, sadly leaving then mountain hostel tomorrow.
