Sorry it has taken me so long to post/ blog I've had sketchy internet access and its just been a whirlwind of activities!
We flew from Barcelona from Portugal, and while it was a short flush the whole event took up most of our day. By the time we got to Barcelona we were tired and hungry but we figured we should check into our hostel before finding food or before it got dark. Imagine our surprise when we got then and found out we had messed up our reservation and booked for 3 night in June instead of July! Not only were we not able to get refunded on our hostel but since we had not called ahead they charged us in full for the 3 nights in June. It was a painful mistake.
So here we are in Barcelona with empty stomachs and no where to stay. The guy at the hostel gave us a map and circled areas of town where we may be able to find something last minute. After searching for about 40mins, and doing numerous flights of stairs (because no hostel is on the 1st floor, more like the 5th or 6th) we found a hotel that we could afford and had a room available for us.
We then picked up some bread and wine and relaxed for a few hours before picking up dinner. We went out to a nice place that karlees book had recommended, and even though there was a wait to sit outside, the food and sangria was totally worth it we just sat and enjoyed a night in the plaza.
Fun fact: when Barcelona held the olympics they did major grooming and building to the city. They put palm trees all over (a species not native to Barcelona) but since all the renovations cost so much they could not afford to buy all the palm trees so they rented them from hawaii
