We started our first real day in Barcelona going on a free walking tour around gothic city and it was really cool however after we finished the tour instead of feeling like we had seen the city it only piqued our intreat further of what all Barcelona had to show. So in the afternoon we went on a biking tour. It was awesome! Biking as a mode of transportation is much more popular in Europe, they have bike lanes on the roads and light signals specifically for bikers. The coolest thing we saw on the bike tour was the sagrada familia. It is a remarkable, but unfinished church. The architect that designed it did not believe in straight lines or 90• angles so it makes for a very interesting look. The front looks as though it is melting. After our bike tour Mitch, our tour guide brought us to this wine bar where a glass of wine was only 1 euro. To top it off bottles of wine came in 2L water bottles, at the cost of 3euros. Needless to say we stocked up for the rest of our time in Barcelona.
After the bike tour we had a few drinks in our room and played some cards before going out for dinner.
Fun fact: in Spain they don't celebrate valentines day instead the day they celebrate love is on April 23 where it is customary to buy a rose for the woman in your life and men receive books. The sale of books has become so high on that day that it is now also international book day
