We had a great day today at Surin National marine park and dove at 2 locations there. It was a full day so gave us a chance to get to know some of the people at the resort - primarily Brits & Europeans and a young couple from Sweden. There's one dive intern here from BC but otherwise no North Americans at all. I was able to complete 3 dives at Surin including the navigation dive that I was struggling to do here due to the conditions. Colin did the 2 dives as part of his discover scuba - he did well and really enjoyed it.
Unfortunately I won't be able to go to Richelieu to complete the other 2 dives for my Advanced certification - they can only take certified divers there and there were only 3 of us interested, not enough to cover the cost of a charter boat. Instead I will do the dives at little-known locations that were discovered by our dive shop.
It's funny, each night we go back to the house after dinner and survey for the 'usual suspects' - tonight the kitchen frog was perched on the tap as always and the big toad was comfortably resting on a towel under the water bottle. At one point Colin startled the toad and he hopped a short distance away - only to return to the towel as soon as it was safe... it reminded me of a few furry animals I know that love to lie on any comfy blanket, towel or dirty laundry available!! :)
