Colin completed his 'Discover Scuba' skills today and is all ready for our trip to Surin National Marine park. He says he enjoyed it, and it will only be better when he gets to do two dives in such an amazing place - apparently lots to see there!
My diving hasn't gotten off to as good of a start - the plan was to do my Navigation dive here as an offshore dive, and we made an attempt yesterday and today but the conditions were not cooperating so I just ended up tossing my breakfast to the fishes after being pummeled about by huge waves both above and under water! Visibility was about 2 meters. I have two dives at Surin tomorrow and then another full day on Tuesday at Richelieu for 2 more dives. To complete my Advanced Open Water certification I must complete the navigation dive so it looks like it will have to be on Wed. I'm quite annoyed at losing a good part of 3 days to finish a few skills for a single credit but we'll see...
Wildlife update - I finally saw the monkeys!! Colin saw them again yesterday while I was diving so I was peeved that he had seen them twice and I hadn't at all! This morning while he was at the dive hut doing his pre-dive debrief they went strolling down the road past the dive hut... I finally got some good pictures of them on my other camera so will post them once we're back. We discovered a very big toad on the floor of our kitchen area tonight, but like I said the amphibian family is alright by me if it means they keep out Mosquitos and other nasty insects!
We also climbed what's known as 'Hornbill Hill' to take pictures of the tsunami memorials that have been placed there. Pictures take long time to load but I'm trying to get a good sample up when we have time and a network connection.
