Finally here and settling in. Our 'baan' (house) is great, and after having lunch (the best pad Thai ever!) we are now lying on loungers out front trying to acclimatize to the heat and humidity.
There are many things here that are the same as what we encountered in Costa Rica, including the little gecko/salamander guys on the living area wall and grass roof who chirp away to either welcome us or warn us, not sure which. They're actually a welcome sight since they're harmless, and being bug-eaters you can rest assured at night that they're busy catching the bugs that would otherwise be crawling around the bug netting that encircles the bed. It'll be interesting tonight to see how the bug situation compares to what we encountered in Costa Rica. Apparently the mosquitos aren't too bad here but black flies are a real problem... as if one was better than the other! :)
