Day 105. Sunday breakfast of pancakes and maple syrup and then we departed Naracoorte onto the Wimmera Highway heading east. We soon crossed the border into Victoria and continued through the Wimmera Region with its vast wheat, cereal and legume crops and lamb and beef herds. The country looks magnificent with avenues of giant river red gums lining the roads. We passed through tiny farming villages of Apsley, Edenhope, Natimuk - names we had never heard of before this trip! We drove around larger farming town of Horsham, so pretty the people obviously take pride in their town. The giant rocky peaks of the Grampians National Park appeared on our horizon and they became very close as we stopped in small town of Stawell for lunch in the park - another beautiful little town. We were planning to visit Halls Gap but the road from the north is unsuitable for caravans. Next through more vineyards of Seppelts Great Western to small town of Ararat and we were again amazed at the beautiful main street, flower beds, town hall and churches with tall spires. We continued down the Western Highway cutting through the Great Dividing Range to the outskirts of the city of Ballarat where we checked into a lovely CP ready for exploring Ballarat tomorrow. Dinner home cooked nachos. Mild sunny day 19 degrees, drove 340km.
