Day 26. Up early to the ARB 4WD shop at Winnellie to fit a new Century deep cycle battery and upgraded wiring to our car fridge. Next Jaycar to buy a multimeter to check DC currents as we go. Back to the van where Raechel had prepared a nice ham salad lunch, our car fridge now working to keep our drinks cold. Then back into Darwin to visit the Darwin Military Museum at beautiful East Point Reserve. Great portrayal of the 1942 bombing of Darwin by the Japanese and the massive recovery effort. My grandfather Jack Robinson was involved as an army engineer in the rapid grading of the Barkly and Stuart Highways to mobilise the North. A drive through leafy Fannie Bay and Parap down to the Darwin Waterfront for dinner by the water. Seafood basket with wine just fabulous on dusk with the harbour all lit up and huge fish picking up the food scraps below us. Very nostalgic for Paul who last set foot on Stokes Hill wharf 42 years ago as a young Customs officer. Hot 33 degrees yet again!
