Day 17. Up early as Max is taking us fishing for catfish on Lake Argyle. Down to the lake on an old bull catchers jeep and onto a modern fishing vessel all 5 of us. The trip down the creek to the lake just amazing with so much bird life amongst the dead trees in the water - brolgas, white egrets, pelicans, ducks of all types, jabiru, ibis, terns, magpie geese, as well as freshwater crocodiles. Max was a real NT character and took us to his favourite fishing spots on the lake with its brilliant backdrop of the Kimberley Ranges. After a slow start we were pulling in large catfish, the hero being 8 year old Sally who hooked 4 fish. Max cleaned the fish and 6 hours later we were back in the Zebra Mine cafe eating fresh scones and jam cooked by Hannah. Reached 34 degrees today our warmest yet. Quick shower and then on the Duncan Road to catch our friends 130 km south on the Nigri River Waterhole Campsite. For dinner we cooked the catfish rolled in flour and dill in the frypan with sunset views to the waterhole. Of course, a glass of red with the steaks to finish another wonderful day.
